Brief
Space Synth is a retro-futuristic genre that had its heyday during the 80s with artists such as Koto, LaserDance, Hypnosis and Cyber People, among others. Vanello is a contemporary reference of the style and the album Planet Synth is a compilation of his best instrumental tracks.
«Moodboard»
Objective
The artwork and design of the album had to reflect the spatial, dreamy and fantasy essence of the genre. The aim was to generate an epic representation of high visual impact that would do justice to the greatness of this Greatest Hits.
The illustration contains numerous references to different songs by the artist, unified in a surreal piece whose primary concept is the journey beyond imagination experienced by listening to the musical genre.
The muse music
Although both art forms -visual and musical- work individually, the project is intrinsically linked to music as inspiration and raison d’être. It would be ideal to involve the auditory sense, by way of ambience, in order to fully appreciate the project.

Beyond imagination
A journey through the album
Planet Synth is where we go when we are totally immersed in this kind of music. There, reality mixes with fantasy; headphones as planetary rings; atmospheres, as equalized sound. The music of the album triggers the imagination towards the cosmos.
In a first version, the face was formed among the continental lights of the cities. Then it was decided to approach a path with exotic fluorescent paints that reflect the diversity of instrumental timbres in search of a more jovial appearance.

Musical ignition
It is a journey, a musical one. The rocket fired towards that magical world is propelled by music; to embark on such a journey, the listener uses music as fuel, activating the ignition of each musical note.
The notes represented in its wake belong to the main melody of the song Meridian Disco, re-mastered on the album.

The pilot
If music is the means of transportation, then the pilot navigating the spaceship is the musician responsible. This particular one is not controlled by a steering wheel, but by his instrument of expertise: the keyboard / piano.
The starting point was a photograph of the artist on which the environment was painted and recreated, to be used in the inner part of the album.
Inner art
Indicators
Like the album cover, the interior design of the ship also abounds with references to his songs; generating a subtle reminiscence to graphic resources used by Vanello in different videoclips made in the past, also to visual elements of the cover and phrases that resonate in his songs.

Album design
Although the cover art is the star that gives the main character to the design of an album, the cohesion between the different graphic elements that make it up as a unit, as a product, is essential.
The user’s experience with a music album begins the moment he/she takes a look at the case and continues when he/she takes it in hand and maneuvers it. When you turn it over to look at the track listing or when you open it to explore the inside, there must be some continuity from the front.
In other words, in addition to the criteria that form the aesthetic outline and aesthetic coherence of the product, it is equally important to develop the conceptual aspect, allowing each element to be interpreted in relation to the others and, of course, to the music.
Cover and Tracklist
Interior
When the album case is opened, one can appreciate; first, the booklet artwork showing the artist inside his spaceship and in the background the cosmos denoting the same tonalities as in the front.
Then, the cover art adapted to the circular version printed on the CD; and finally, the background, on which the disc is placed, continues the cosmos theme showing the pink nebula towards the right side, which coincides with the CD art and the booklet art.
Front booklet
Booklet
The author of the album decided to honor some of the people who have supported him on social networks during the course of his performance as a musician, immortalizing several randomly selected comments received.
They were represented as part of a futuristic electronic device. The same can be seen in the artwork inside the spaceship.

The vinyl album
Although vinyl records are nowadays rarities, they are still being recorded and sold, as well as the turntable.
Both for collectors and for lovers of that particular retro sound, vinyls have a symbolic/affective value and a very particular beauty.
That is the case of the artist of this album, who decided to realize his work also on this storage medium.
